Original songs are very difficult to make. Creating great catchy lyrics and music to match the rhythm and the mood that you want has stumped many a song writer.
Then when you do make something that works and get a good recording of it, it can be very intimidating to put the song, and yourself, out there for the world to listen and judge.
The following singersongwriters exhibit great talent and have conquered their fears by publishing an original song to YouTube. All of these artists produced a great song and deserve praise and support regardless of whether or not you like the particular style they perform.

In no particular order, here are the 10 best original songs I found on YouTube this month!
Alexandra Tan – Out Of Time
This is Alexandra Tan singing Out of Time. She has a beautiful voice and is a great guitar and piano player (among other things I’m sure).
This is an original song that she recently had the chance to film again in a professional studio. The results are great. Head over to her channel and check out some of her other videos.
Graham Peeples – Floodgate
This is the only video I was able to find by Graham, but it is spectacular. I really like the microphone he’s using. It is a Blue Bluebird condenser mic and it produces a great sound as you can tell. If you aren’t sure if you’re using the right microphone the check out this easy to follow article detailing the different kinds of microphones.
Be sure to subscribe and support him so that he will put more videos out for us (me) to enjoy!
Marcelo – Hide and Seek
Marcelo is a singersongwriter who really knows his stuff. He has a powerful voice and writes beautiful original songs. This acoustic video of Hide and Seek is impressive and I am excited to see what else he will be producing this year.
Jayme Squires – Feels So Good
Jayme sings this original song while playing a little Uke. Feel So Good is very well produced. The vocals and Uke are very clear and detailed and there is no background noise to stress the ears.
This is a great example of the great music videos you can produce with a home studio. You simply record the music and video seperately and combine them later. Read this for ideas about what type of video camera you need to make a something like Jayme’s video!
The song puts a positive spin on this nasty winter I’ve been having, and I will be adding it to my playlist to listen to the next time I have to shovel the driveway.
Julie Mihevc – Black and White
Julia Mihevc has a large history of great cover songs and releasing her original song Black & White is something new for her. It’s a wonderful song and she deserves your support. Be sure to give her a follow and a like so she keeps making new songs!
Carissa Kimbell (Norwae) – Hoping To Let You In
Carissa Kimbell (Norwae) sings this song with the help of some collaborators. The resulting song is spectacular. Her voice is so smooth and classic it soothes my ears.
Though this video was recorded at a professional studio, there isn’t any reason you couldn’t create something just as nice with a well made home studio. If you’re not sure where to start, or need some ideas to improve what you already have, check out my article: How To Make a Home Studio
Chloe – Hold Me Closer
Chloe displays some impressive guitar playing and singing in this original song, but what really stands out to me is the depth of the lyrics. I’ve listened to it several times and each time I hear some new insightful line. I suppose I could read her included lyrics, but where is the fun in that.
Make sure you subscribe to her channel and support her to encourage her to keep it up!
Isabeau Waiau Walker – Watch Your Words
Isabeau created this beautiful song and performs it just as well. Very impressive production quality from what looks like her bedroom. I am very curious about what microphones and DAW software she is using.
I’m not sure how she got such great acoustics from that room, but if you need some tips on improving your home studio acoustics then read my article: How To Acoustically Treat A Room
Colm Kirwan – Left Left Right
Colm moved from Ireland to Nashvill, TN to make his music. I can’t say I’ve hear that story before, but I’m glad he did. This is a catchy original song that will have you tapping your foot along with it and be stuck in your head the rest of the day.
Be sure to check out his YouTube channel and support him in his journey!
Parable Fifteen – As I Thought
I can’t express how much I love this song. It makes me want to just close my eyes and lean back in my chair to take it in. It’s relaxing and comforting to me in a way I can’t describe.
Parable Fifteen (awesome name BTW) hails from Durban, South Africa. I am very thankful to live in this era where I have music made across the world available to me the instant the artist makes it.
I hope you enjoyed all those songs as much as I did. If any of them really stood out to you then be sure to support them via a YouTube subscription, or in whatever way you can. I also want to hear about it below in the comments!
